The foster father of a 2-year-old girl who died of blunt force trauma has been arrested on suspicion of homicide, Corcoran police said Friday.

Henry Moreno was arrested without incident about 10:45 a.m. Friday in the 5000 block of East Hedges Avenue in Fresno by Corcoran police and Kings County District Attorney’s Office investigators.

Moreno’s age and hometown were not provided.

On Feb. 1, Corcoran police responded to the 1500 block of Claire Avenue regarding an unresponsive 2-year-old. The child had been taken to Adventist Medical Center in Hanford and later transported to Valley Children’s Hospital, where she died.

Police and the DA’s Office investigated the case as a suspicious death. The investigation took several months because it included testing and analysis of the child’s organs by forensic medical experts.

The Kings County Coroner’s Office and Stanford Medical Center physicians reviewed autopsy and medical reports, police said. Based on the records, they concluded that the girl died from non-accidental blunt force trauma.

The investigation is still ongoing, police said. Anyone with information should contact Detective John Harris at 559-992-5151.
