Former Fresno IRS employee found guilty of tax fraud
A former IRS employee from Fresno was convicted Monday of tax fraud and defrauding the U.S. after filing false tax returns, according to acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert.
According to evidence from the four-day trial, Kimberly English, 53, filed her own fraudulent returns in 2011 and 2012 while she was working for the IRS in Fresno. English also filed fraudulent returns for others, including her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend. The false returns added dependents and deductions, giving the filers unearned tax refunds and credits.
English is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 15, and faces up to five years in prison and dismissal from her job.
