Madera police make arrests in gang shooting

Madera police say they made quick arrests in a Friday afternoon gang shooting involving juveniles.

Sgt. Johnnie Smith said detectives made a stop just after 4 p.m. near Yosemite Avenue and Lake Street on a car with a shattered rear window. One person in the car ran as it stopped but four others were detained – and two were suffering from gunshot wounds. Also, one of the victims had been hit by their rivals’ car during the gun battle.

Both of the injured juveniles were reported in stable condition at a hospital, Smith said.

Smith did not say how many were arrested and said all names were withheld because they’re minors.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call detective Alicia Keiser at 559-675-4236.
