Man found shot in jaw in central Fresno
A 21-year-old man was found shot in the jaw Wednesday morning in central Fresno, and police are now looking for an SUV that may be involved.
The shooting happened about 10:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of East Rialto Avenue, near Blackstone and Gettysburg avenues. Police found the man with a gunshot wound to his jaw area. He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where he was undergoing surgery for a critical injury.
Police Lt. Joe Gomez said the victim was in front of a home, near the sidewalk, when a shot was fired. A neighbor heard the shot and saw the victim on the sidewalk, and a small white SUV driving west on Rialto Avenue and then south on Effie Street.
Investigators are interested in speaking with the occupants of the SUV.
Anyone who knows the identity of the shooter can call Crime Stoppers at 559-498-7867 (STOP) where they can remain anonymous and can receive a cash award if their information leads to an arrest.
