Car stolen from police dispatcher recovered after Fresno chase
Fresno police said they arrested a gang member and recovered a car stolen from a police dispatcher Tuesday morning after a pursuit of the 2013 Ford Mustang that started near Marks and Clinton avenues.
Sgt. Walter Boston said detectives tried to stop the car on Parkway Drive south of Olive Avenue, but the vehicle sped away. The Mustang driver sped north of West Avenue and then north on Fruit Avenue, pursued by the California Highway Patrol, before the driver drove onto a canal bank, ditched the vehicle and ran into apartments on Dakota Avenue between Palm Avenue and Fruit. A police helicopter was able to determine that the suspect ran into an apartment, where he was taken into custody. Rudy Soto, 27, was booked on charges of reckless driving, evading and possession of a stolen car.
The car was stolen from the area of Chestnut and Central avenues.
