Candy trail leads to Little League burglary suspects in Fresno
Three men accused of stealing goods from a River Park Little League clubhouse in northeast Fresno met a bittersweet end Thursday after police followed a trail of candy from the clubhouse to where they were found standing.
Fresno police Sgt. Michael Landon said police were called out to the area near Fresno Street and Alluvial Avenue around 2 a.m. after a resident heard men arguing. They found three 18-year-old men standing in a business complex near Kaiser Park: Wesley Moore, Devan Grothe and Austin Jordan. One man tried to climb a fence and run from officers, but he was found hiding nearby shortly after.
The three men had property that appeared to be stolen from the River Park Little League clubhouse at the nearby park, Landon said. Officers discovered the clubhouse had been burglarized.
Landon said one of the stolen items was a box of candy that had a hole in it. The three men unknowingly left a trail of candy and other stolen items from the clubhouse to where they were found standing by the officers.
The suspects were booked into Fresno County Jail on burglary and conspiracy charges. All of the stolen property was returned to the River Park Little League.
