Two men were arrested in southeast Fresno on Saturday after Fresno police say they robbed a man at gunpoint.

Officers went to the area of Church and Maple avenues for a man who said the pair approached him and asked where he was from, police said.

Benjamin Holmes, 18, pulled out a .22-caliber pistol and put it to the victim’s stomach and demanded the victim surrender his shoes, wallet, cell phone and sweatshirt, police said. Holmes and Deionte Wade, 19, took the victim’s belongings and walked away.

The victim went to a nearby store and asked to use the phone, but he was turned away, police said. He had to walk home to call the police.

After hearing the call, an officer spotted the suspects walking several blocks away holding the victim’s property. He confronted the suspects and Wade surrendered. The officer called out the direction Holmes was headed.

Another officer chased Holmes who went over a fence, police said. When confronted, Holmes discarded the loaded pistol and surrendered.

The victim identified both men as the suspects.

Holmes and Wade were booked into the Fresno County Jail on robbery allegations.
