A man told Fresno police he was shot in the hand during a holdup Monday morning west of Highway 99.

Lt. Joe Gomez said the 26-year-old victim was found at apartments near Clinton and Marks avenues with a bullet wound which went through his hand. He told officers that he walked to a nearby market about 8:15 a.m. and on the way, he was approached by a bandit who demanded cash. The victim said he put his hands in the air and the suspect fired, striking the hand. The suspect then ran. The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
