Two hurt in east-central Fresno stabbing
Two people were stabbed and seriously injured during a fight Sunday at Cedar and McKinley avenues in east-central Fresno that could be gang-related, Fresno police Lt. Joe Alvarez said.
Officers responded to calls of a disturbance around 6:30 p.m. at the AM/PM gas station on Clovis and Olive avenues, but when they arrived everyone had left the scene, Alvarez said.
Alvarez said two vehicles sped off, chasing another vehicle when they jumped onto Highway 180 and exited at Cedar Avenue.
The vehicles ended up at Cedar and McKinley avenues where several occupants of the three vehicles exited and began fighting in the middle of the street.
During the fight, two males from the same vehicle were stabbed and taken to Community Regional Medical Center, Alvarez said.
One victim is in stable condition and the other is undergoing surgery for critical wounds.
Police are trying to determine how many people were involved, Alvarez said.
“There is possible gang issues here, but we have not been able to confirm that yet,” Alvarez said.
