Southeast Fresno house fire causes thousands of dollars of damage
A fire at a vacant southeast Fresno home caused thousands of dollars of damage early Sunday, Fresno fire said.
Around 1:30 a.m. Fresno police, who were in the area on a weapons call, reported smoke coming from a home in the 3100 block of East Nevada Avenue, fire spokesman Hector Vasquez said. Three rooms were damaged in the boarded-up two-story home.
The fire was contained around 1:50 a.m., Vasquez said. The cause of the flames is unknown but firefighters believe it may have been related to squatters.
There was $40,000 worth of damage to the home, Vasquez said. One fire investigator, two battalion chiefs and 20 firefighters were on scene.
There were no injuries, Vasquez said.
