Two killed in hit-and-run crash in western Fresno County

Two people were killed early Friday morning in a hit-and-run collision in western Fresno County, the California Highway Patrol said.

Officers received a call around 5:42 a.m. for a crash involving a Dodge Charger and an Acura near Cantua Creek on San Mateo Avenue, between Floral and Nebraska avenues, Officer Justin Montooth said. The occupants in the Acura died in the collision. The driver of the Charger was later arrested by Mendota police after he fled the crash in an unknown vehicle with another person.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
