Man stabbed during central Fresno road rage incident
A man was in the hospital Friday after a passenger in a van that intentionally rear-ended his car stabbed him during a post-crash fight, police said.
Lt. Joe Gomez said the 40-year-old victim and his brother were driving near Shields Avenue and 11th Street around 1 p.m. when they were hit by a van driven by a middle-aged Hispanic woman. The suspects told police that the van’s occupants believed they were driving too slowly.
The man and his brother got out of their car and began to fight with the van’s passenger, described as an African-American man, 6 feet, with a heavy build and between 38 and 43 years old, Gomez said. The victim stopped fighting after he realized he had been stabbed, and the suspect got back in the van and drove off.
The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for a serious stab wound to his bicep and a puncture wound to his neck, Gomez said. He was expected to survive.
Anyone with information on the suspects in this stabbing is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
