Fresno man shoots at girlfriend, hits her sister instead
A man trying to shoot his girlfriend after an argument instead shot the woman’s 22-year-old sister Wednesday afternoon west of Highway 99 in Fresno, police reported.
The woman was driven to Community Regional Medical Center by friends. The shooting took place near North Carnegie and West Oslin avenues.
Police Lt. Joe Gomez gave this account:
The sisters had taken the 19-year-old suspect to a relative’s home on the 5600 block of West Oslin Avenue. As the women tried to leave, the man fought his girlfriend for the car keys because he did not want her to go. The girlfriend, 28, was able to wrestle the keys away and the women began driving away.
As they did, the suspect “ran up to the car and fired at the vehicle several times,” said Gomez. The 22-year-old was wounded in her right hip. The wound was not considered life-threatening.
Police are looking for the man. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP. Callers can be anonymous and receive a cash reward if the information leads to an arrest of the suspect.
