Fresno man arrested after victim shot in back
A Fresno man was taken into custody Monday afternoon after a victim was shot in the back west of Highway 99, police reported.
Montrell Skinner, 19, was booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
Officers were called to the area of Polk and Shaw avenues about 5:43 p.m. and found the victim. After receiving reports that the gunman was in a nearby apartment, officers surrounded the unit and ordered the occupants to come outside.
A police spokesman said Skinner was identified as the shooter. He was booked into Fresno County Jail.
A gun believed to have been used in the shooting was confiscated. Skinner also was booked on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
