Man surrenders after SWAT team sent into Fresno neighborhood

Police took a man into custody after a warrant was served and the department’s SWAT team deployed in central Fresno early Tuesday.

The confrontation happened at Lafayette and Dayton avenues, near the major intersection of Hughes and Dakota avenues.

The man initially refused to come out of the home but later complied, police said. The department’s armored vehicle also was sent into the neighborhood.

There was no immediate information available about why the warrant was served.
