Visalia employees try to stop robbery by jumping into suspect’s car

Two employees attempted to stop a theft Monday afternoon at Visalia Hobbies by jumping into the suspect’s truck as it sped off.

The crime happened around 4 p.m. at the store in the 2900 block of South Mooney Boulevard when one person walked into the store and stole over $1,000 in merchandise.

Two employees who saw the theft attempted to stop the thief by climbing into the back of the truck. When one fell off, suffering a head injury, the other employee, who had a handgun, fired into the vehicle, shooting one round.

The thief then fled the area, and the injured employee was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
