14-year-old Exeter girl wounded in drive-by shooting

A 14-year-old girl was shot in a drive-by shooting in Exeter and officers are trying to find the shooter, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department said Monday.

About 9:50 p.m. Saturday, April , Exeter police were called to the area of Pine and F streets for a report of gunshots and a wounded victim.

The girl was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

She had been walking to the store with two others when a vehicle slowed down and people yelled gang slurs at them, witnesses told investigators. The others ran away but the girl dropped to the ground as the vehicle sped off.

If captured, the suspects could face attempted murder charges.

The Interagency Gang Enforcement Team composed of officers from the Exeter and Farmersville police departments and the sheriff’s department are looking for an older model white four-door vehicle.
