Man shot to death at southeast Fresno condo

Police are investigating a murder that occurred early Monday at Ranchwood Condos in southeast Fresno, where a 45-year-old man was shot multiple times by a man with a sawed-off rifle.

Detectives are on the scene of the slaying, on East Lane Avenue just east of Chestnut Avenue. Lt. Joe Gomez said the crime occurred a short time after the victim walked out to warm up his car. He was attacked by the gunman moments later and was found dead near the front of the unit where he lived.

Police don’t know if a robbery was involved or whether the victim was chased by the killer. The suspect was identified as a young, Hispanic male about 5 feet, 4 inches tall and wearing a gray hoodie and black pants.
