Man critical after he’s shot while walking down Fresno street
One man was shot as he walked down the street Monday evening in central Fresno, the Fresno Police Department said.
The shooting happened at 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of First Street and Shields Avenue, when for an unknown reason someone in a gold or silver late-model Honda Accord opened fire on the man, hitting him twice.
The victim is listed in critical but stable condition at Community Regional Medical Center, where he is cooperating with police.
Lt. Joe Alvarez said that police camera footage may have captured the crime, and police are currently interviewing witnesses on scene.
Southbound First Street between Dakota and Shields avenues will be closed for up to several hours, Alvarez said.
