Police find 17-year-old boy with stab wound in central Fresno

A 17-year-old boy was found with a stab wound in central Fresno after neighbors reported a disturbance in the area, Lt. Dave Ramos said.

Fresno Police responded to a call of shots fired around 8:45 p.m. in the 2400 block of Tyler Avenue near Fresno Street.

Upon arriving, officers found no evidence of gun shots but did find the juvenile with a stab wound.

“He was running, trying to get away from the area,” Ramos said.

Ramos said neighbors reported a fight of an unknown number of people in the area of Tyler Avenue and Thesta Street before noticing the victim with a stab wound running from the area.

Officers closed off Tyler Avenue between Fresno and Thesta streets to investigate the incident.

After canvassing the neighborhood, officers located evidence of blood in several areas around Tyler Avenue, Ramos said.

The suspect is unknown and officers don’t know the motive of the crime.

The victim was transported to Community Regional Medical center where his condition is unknown.
