Man injured by gunfire during festival in southeast Fresno
A man who showed up at Community Regional Medical Center on Saturday had no idea how a gunshot injury appeared behind his right ear.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s office said the man was transported to the hospital after reporting pain behind his right ear during a Lao New Year event at 2710 S Fruit Avenue in southeast Fresno on Saturday.
A security guard at the event reported hearing a gun shot during the event, the sheriff’s office said.
Sheriffs deputies believe the injury came after celebratory gunfire was fired into the air. They think the bullet possibly came down and hit the victim.
Sheriff’s deputies said they were unable to locate any witnesses so the cause of the injury is still under investigation.
Doctors expect the man to make a full recovery, the sheriff’s office said.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the sheriff’s office dispatch center at 559-600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at 559-498-7867.
