A Fresno man was found wearing a prison jumpsuit after he was arrested Monday, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to the area of Palm and San Ramon avenues around 5 p.m. to check the welfare of a man, spokesman Tony Botti said. A witness reported that the man appeared to be disoriented and walking into the street.

Isaac McCoy, 30, of Fresno, was seen by deputies standing on a median along a frontage road and peering into a parked car, Botti said. They had recognized McCoy from past calls and detained him.

McCoy was searched for safety reasons as they peeled several layers of clothing, including a red jumpsuit from the Fresno County Jail, under his coat and jeans, Botti said. He claimed he bought the jumpsuit off of someone on the street.

Deputies also found various items in his pockets including four methamphetamine pipes, Botti said. Two of the pipes were converted into crack pipes. McCoy was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail for possessing stolen property, drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.

The stolen property charge stems from the jumpsuit and the two white T-shirts McCoy was found wearing with the word “PRISONER” on them as McCoy was going through the screening process, Botti said. Deputies aren’t clear when McCoy obtained the stolen clothing. His last stay in the jail was in February, however, he has been an inmate a total of 40 times dating back to 2005.

Anyone with additional information on this case is asked to contact the Fresno County sheriff’s dispatch unit at 559-600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP (7867).
