Fresno man booked on murder charges after Monday shooting
Police Tuesday arrested a man in connection with a shooting death at an altercation Monday night in central Fresno.
The incident happened about 10 p.m. Monday in the 2300 block of East Harvard Avenue, near the major intersections of Clinton Avenue and Fresno Street.
Lt. Burke Farrah of the Street Violence Section said officers found two injured brothers, who were rushed to Community Regional Medical Center. The older brother, 37, died at the hospital and his 35-year-old sibling from Arroyo Grande was treated for broken bones and is expected to survive. Identification on both men was withheld by police.
Farrah said the brothers went to the Harvard home to settle a dispute with Edgar Lane Ripley III. When a fight broke out, Ripley pulled a gun and opened fire. Ripley was booked into Fresno County Jail on Tuesday morning.
The slaying was the 13th of 2016. In the same time frame in 2015, there were also 13 murders.
Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
