A pursuit of a Fresno man sought on domestic violence charges that began in Visalia Tuesday morning ended with the man’s arrest on Bulldog Lane near Fresno State.

Members of the Career Criminal Auto Theft Team arrested Guy Stowers and a passenger shortly before noon, Fresno police Lt. Joe Gomez said. Stowers fled Visalia police, where he was sought on charges of stalking and domestic violence. He sped away at speeds of more than 100 mph and the officers broke off pursuit on Highway 99 in the interest of public safety.

Police were able to keep tabs on Stowers’ location because of the GPS system on an electronic device in the car. Stowers’ passenger was carrying a loaded 9 mm Smith & Wesson handgun when the pair were apprehended. Stowers has ties to southwest Fresno gangs and previous arrests on drug and weapons charges in Fresno County.
