Tulare police confiscated hundreds of marijuana plants in a warehouse.

A strange odor from a Tulare warehouse turned out to be marijuana, and five people are under arrest, police said Thursday.

When code enforcement officers arrived Wednesday at Tulare Kustoms at 420 E. Cross Ave., business owner Robert Zamarripa, 43, of Tulare, would not let them in.

The code enforcement officers got a search warrant and Tulare police served it. Police found 610 marijuana plants with a street value of $900,000 and arrested Zamarripa on suspicion of possession of plants for sale and electricity theft.

The electrical box had been bypassed, with stolen power estimated at $100,000.

Also arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana plants were Tulare residents Dylan Zamarripa, 20; Rigoberto Renteria, 34; Alicia Renteria, 42; and Jessie Zamarripa, 25, who also was arrested on suspicion of possession of plants for sale and electricity theft.
