Man arrested for DUI, drug possession after falling asleep at the wheel
One man was arrested on Sunday for drug possession and driving under the influence after he passed out at the wheel of his car in the roadway in southeast Fresno, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.
Alberto Zamorano, 31, of Fresno, was found by a sheriff’s deputy around 2 a.m. slumped over the wheel of his still-idling car in the middle of the road near Central Avenue and Golden State Boulevard.
A CHP officer arrived to perform a sobriety test on Zamorano, who was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.10, which is above the legal limit of 0.08. When officers searched the vehicle, they found a plastic bag of methamphetamine, a glass pipe, digital scale and a torch, according to sheriff officials.
Zamorano was booked into the Fresno County Jail for drug possession, DUI and driving on a suspended license, and he later bailed out.
