Exchange of gunfire at central Fresno apartments

Two groups exchanged gunfire at an apartment complex in central Fresno Tuesday afternoon, police reported.

The shooting broke out about 2 p.m. at Pontiac and Effie streets, where one group in a parking lot fired at another group taking cover behind a van parked across the street.

There were no reports of injuries, but the van was riddled with gunfire.

“I’m outta here. Too many dummies,” said a man who lives in the neighborhood. He declined to identify himself.
