Tulare man sentenced in Social Security fraud case
A Tulare man was sentenced Monday in Fresno’s federal court to four months in prison for stealing benefits from the Social Security Administration, U.S. Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner said.
Larry Ramirez, 52, failed to disclose income he made from his auto repair business in his application for benefits from 1997 to June 2013, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. The income would have disqualified Ramirez from receiving Social Security benefits.
Ramirez stole around $90,000 from the Social Security Administration, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
