A gang member who fled officers at a high rate of speed in a Lexus was arrested after he crashed the car in central Fresno Saturday night, police reported.

Albert Guerrero, 35, was booked on charges of felony evading as well as outstanding warrants, Sgt. Justin Hoagland reported.

Officers tried to stop Guerrero after he committed a traffic infraction, but he sped away from the stop at Olive Avenue and First Street at speeds reaching 80 mph, colliding with other cars, Hoagland said. Officers discontinued a pursuit, but located the car a short time later after Guerrero ran a red light and totaled the car near First Street and Clinton Avenue.

Guerrero ran from the area, but a woman passenger who sustained minor injuries remained in the car. Guerrero was taken into custody after a yard-to-yard search. The woman, who was identified as Alyssa Amesquita, was arrested for a probation violation.
