A juvenile who fell asleep in a stolen car was arrested Tuesday morning west of Highway 99.

Sgt. Doug Goertzen said officers were called to the area of Marks and McKinley avenues about 8 a.m., where the car was spotted in an apartment parking lot. Officers determined the car was stolen and called in the Career Criminal Auto Theft Team.

As detectives arrived, the 16-year-old tried to run. He was captured nearby. Goertzen said he was in possession of a “shave key,” which is used to steal cars. The juvenile was on felony probation for firearms violations. He was booked into juvenile hall on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest and other charges.
