After leading police on a pursuit from southeast to northeast Fresno on Saturday, a Kerman man was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and misdemeanor evading, Fresno police said.
Alexis Alfredo Ortiz, 26, led police on a 45-minute pursuit after he stole a white truck with a 24-foot cargo box that belonged to Monterrey Mexican Products and had been on a route making deliveries, Fresno police said. Ortiz allegedly led Fresno police from Church and Maple avenues in Fresno to the city of Clovis, when Clovis police took over.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office Eagle 1 helicopter had also started tracking the truck and broadcast information to officers on the ground, Fresno police said. Eventually, the truck drove back into Fresno.
The truck ended up at the Ramada Inn at Shaw Avenue and Highway 41 after a stop at a Fresno State parking lot, Fresno police said.
