Police: Visalia pedestrian struck by DUI driver

A Visalia man was hospitalized with major injuries Monday night after he was struck by an impaired driver, police reported.

The collision took place at 7:54 p.m. as Olga Cazares, 67, of Visalia was westbound on Noble Avenue in a Toyota Corolla. Police reported that she ran a red light and struck Johnny Gonzalez, 47, who was walking southbound in a crosswalk on the west side of Lovers Lane. Cazares fled, but was followed by a witness to a store where she was found to be under the influence. She was booked into the Tulare County jail on suspicion of DUI and hit and run.
