Fresno man booked after shotgun fired into neighbor’s apartment

A man police say fired at least one shotgun blast into his neighbor’s apartment early Monday was taken into custody in downtown Fresno.

Police Sgt. Troy Miller said officers were sent to the 200 block of North U Street to check a report that someone was running up and down stairs shouting “Bulldogs,” and “Come outside.”

When they arrived, they were directed to an apartment with holes in a wall, sofa and television screen. Officers went to the adjacent apartment, where they found Armando Ponce, 46, passed out on a couch with shotgun shells in his pocket and on the floor nearby. Officers found a shotgun in a neighboring room.

Ponce was booked into Fresno County Jail on charges that included discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.
