Men fire shots at vehicle driving near Fresno Fairground

Three people in a vehicle were shot at Sunday evening near the Fresno Fairground, police Lt. Mindy Casto said.

The incident happened around 6:10 p.m. at the intersection of Butler and Chance avenues. The driver of a vehicle was struck in the upper body, while two other passengers wereunhurt, Casto said.

Casto said officers were in the area responding to a different call. When the reported shooting came in, the three were desperate to flag down an officer for help.

The victim was transported to a hospital; the condition of the driver was unknown.

The suspects, described as three Hispanic adults, came out of a nearby apartment complex when they opened fire on the vehicle.

Casto said the suspect fled back into the apartment complex after the shooting.

Officers canvassed the area for evidence.
