Madera police arrest man in homicide case after 3-month search

A Madera man was arrested Thursday after a three-month search in connection with a December homicide, the Madera Police Department said.

Anthony Gomez, 18, was located in Madera and arrested and booked into the Madera County Jail.

On Dec. 8, Michael Martinez, 21, was shot and killed while walking with a friend on Madera Avenue. A week later, on Dec. 15, police arrested Eduardo Garza IV, 19, and charged him with the crime.

Police also issued a warrant for Gomez at that time, but they didn’t find him until Thursday.

A female was arrested along with Gomez for harboring a fugitive, police said.

Police believe the killing was gang-related.
