Foster Farms employee charged with animal cruelty in Fresno

A Fresno Foster Farms employee was charged Friday with animal cruelty after a video recording that alleged to show him mistreating chickens at the processing plant was made public, the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office said.

Gabriel Cevallos, 24, formerly of Caruthers, is alleged to have physically mistreated several chickens at Foster Farms in March 2015.

He’s charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty and could face up to one year in jail, as well as a five-year prohibition on owning or possessing animals.

Foster Farms has cooperated with the investigation since the allegation was made, the District Attorney’s Office said.
