Two men are dead in separate homicides that happened 17 minutes and three miles apart in Tulare early Saturday morning.
“Anytime we have a major crime scene, we exhaust all available resources,” Tulare police Sgt. Andrew Garcia said. These cases happened so close together that resources in Tulare were spread thin.
The first call came in at 1:25 a.m. from the 1300 block of West Tulare Avenue. Officers responded and found an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound.
Steven Williams, 25, of Tulare was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
Suspect Kasmir Bailey, 22, of Tulare was taken into custody in the homicide. The weapon used is still being sought.
A few minutes after the first homicide occurred, a call came in from the 1100 block of North Lynora Street.
Officers found an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound. Henry Jacinto, 22, of Tulare died at the scene.
The shooter and weapon in the second case still are being sought.
Neither case appeared to be gang-related, Garcia said, and the cases are thought to be unrelated.
There were 10 homicides in Tulare in 2015.
Anyone with information on either case should call the Tulare Police Department at 559-684-4290.
