Suspected DUI driver arrested in rollover crash in Visalia
A rollover crash in Visalia early Saturday morning that police suspect was caused by a DUI driver injured four people, including a teenager who was crossing the street at the time.
The crash occurred at 12:32 a.m. at the intersection of Sweet Avenue and Conyer Street.
Luis A. Rocha-Lopez, 21, was east on Sweet Avenue in a Ford Explorer and ran the stop sign at Conyer Street, police said. His vehicle collided with an Acura sedan driven by a 16-year-old boy.
Rocha-Lopez’s vehicle then crashed into a parked car, rolled over and struck a 16-year-old boy who was crossing the street. Rocha-Lopez was thrown out of his vehicle, and his passenger, Miguel Alcaraz, 19, was also injured.
The parked car was pushed into a residence in the 800 block of West Sweet Avenue and caused minor to moderate damage, police said.
Rocha-Lopez, Alcaraz and the teenage pedestrian were taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center and were treated for serious injuries. They were listed in stable condition.
Rocha-Lopez was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.
