Man arrested on weapons charges after speeding from officers in southwest Fresno

A Fresno man was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and evading police officers Thursday night in southwest Fresno, police reported.

The incident took place just after 6 p.m. in the area of Jensen and Elm avenues, where a traffic officer saw a black SUV driving without its lights, a police spokesman said. The driver sped away from an officer and into a residential area near Jensen and Bardell avenue, where the SUV was located after a search.

Carlos Jackson, 36, a convicted felon, had a loaded .45 caliber pistol in his car along with marijuana. He was booked into Fresno County Jail on weapons, drug and traffic charges.
