Two men were arrested Monday night after a large disturbance involving firearms in southeast Fresno, police reported.

The incident took place at an apartment complex in the 5600 block of East Balch Avenue, where a caller reported a scuffle involving about 20 people, several of whom were armed.

A police spokesman said officers saw two men running toward an SUV. When the men were ordered to stop, one dropped a handgun on the roadway. The SUV struck a parked car and a wall while the driver was attempting to flee. Another handgun was tossed from the vehicle as the driver fled north on Clovis Avenue near Tulare Street. A pursuit ended when the SUV slammed into a tree at Shields Avenue west of Highway 180.

Anthony Gross Jr., 23, and Dishan Darrin Washington, 24, were arrested on charges of being felons in possession of firearms, violation of probation and felony evading.
