Friday’s fatal apartment shooting victim identified

The man who died from a shooting Feb. 5 at an east-central Fresno apartment complex has been identified as 23-year-old Dominique Hickey.

Hickey died at Community Regional Medical Center after sustaining a gunshot wound to his chest.

The incident was reported at 9:16 a.m. Friday at The Landing at Fancher Creek on Peach and Clay avenues, south of Olive Avenue.

Police Lt. Joe Gomez said a caller told police a friend had just shot himself. In a second call shortly after, the caller said he was afraid, then the caller apparently left the scene.

The shooting remained under investigation Sunday night.
