Visalia police arrest 2 on drug, weapons charges

Two men were arrested on firearms and narcotics charges after they ran from a vehicle stop Thursday night in Visalia, police reported.

The incident took place near East Douglas Avenue and North Enos Street about 9 p.m., a spokesman said. After the pair, later identified as Fredrick Grijalva, 32, and Alfredo Velasquez, 38, ran into a wrecking yard, police found a loaded handgun and called for help from a California Highway Patrol helicopter to locate them. Officers found one-half pound of marijuana and methamphetamine in their vehicle. Both were booked into the Tulare County Jail.
