Man charged with attempted murder in wife’s shooting at northeast Fresno home
A Fresno man who police say shot his wife multiple times with a handgun outside their northeast Fresno home Friday night has been charged with attempted murder.
Bail for Harry Gordon, 64, was set at $500,000, Lt. Burke Farrah said.
Officers received multiple calls about a shooting along the 5700 block of North Millbrook Avenue, just south of Bullard Avenue, around 7:30 p.m., Lt. Ron Hughes said Friday.
Units from a tactical team near the area arrived in minutes and confronted a man in his mid-60s outside the house, Hughes said. The man surrendered and told officers he had just shot his wife while his children were inside the house.
Officers found the victim, a woman in her 40s, outside the house with multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body, Hughes said.
The victim was treated at the scene and then taken to Community Regional Medical Center to undergo surgery, Hughes said. She was in critical condition Saturday, Farrah said.
The suspect was arrested and was being processed by police, Hughes said. The shooting weapon was recovered at the scene.
Police still were investigating the shooting as they interviewed eyewitnesses, Hughes said. A motive is unknown.
The children inside the house were not harmed during the shooting, Hughes said.
