One man dead in Kearney Market shooting in southwest Fresno
One man was shot and killed Saturday night while shopping at the Kearney Market in southwest Fresno, police said.
The victim was in the market at 147 E. Kearney Blvd. around 5:15 p.m. when a Hispanic man entered the store and firing multiple rounds at the man, said Lt. Dave Ramos of the Fresno Police Department.
The suspect then ran down the street before getting into a red Chevrolet Camaro. He was last seen wearing a cream-colored T-shirt, blue jeans, and is approximately 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, with black hair, Ramos said.
Police units arrived just three minutes after the initial call came in, performing life-saving maneuvers on the man who was shot, but he was later pronounced dead at Community Regional Medical Center.
Although the victim was targeted, police don’t believe the shooting was gang-related, Ramos said.
Homicide detectives have been called in to investigate the crime, and officers are searching for the suspect.
