Fresno police arrested a Bakersfield man early Thursday after he was seen on camera stealing video cameras at Tenaya Middle School, Sgt. Jordan Beckford reported.

The incident began about 1 a.m., when officers went to the 1200 block of West Mesa Avenue after the suspect, identified as Douglas Jackson, 49, was seen removing the cameras, Beckford said.

Jackson tried to flee over a fence but was confronted by officers, reversed direction and was taken into custody.

He was booked into Fresno County Jail.

Four stolen cameras valued at $900 each were found in a backback, along with Jackson’s identification, Beckford said.
