Northeast Fresno car chase ends in arrest, gang member taken into custody

A car chase in northeast Fresno ended in two arrests when officers spotted a stolen 1997 Honda Civic near San Madele Avenue and Angus Street.

Officers began chasing the vehicle as it sped off around 5:55 p.m. Saturday toward an apartment complex in the area of Fresno Street and San Jose Avenue. The female passenger fled the vehicle in the complex, but was apprehended. The male driver continued to flee, hitting a patrol car at one point but causing only minor damage, before he was taken into custody.

The driver, Orlando Reyna, 38, of Fresno, was found to be a Bond Street Bulldog gang member, a prior convicted felon and currently on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for felony evading. He was found in possession of methamphetamine and hypodermic syringes.

The female passenger, Wasoomte Del Toro, 18, of Auberry, was found to have a loaded 9mm handgun in her waistband. She also had a felony warrant for charges related to auto theft.

Both were booked into Fresno County Jail on numerous allegations.
