Sanger man arrested in Parlier kidnapping, sexual assault
A Sanger man is behind bars after Parlier police said he kidnapped, robbed and sexually assaulted a woman on Dec. 19. When he was arrested, police found him with the victim’s stolen phone in hand.
Eduardo Giovanni Gonsalez, 18, was booked into Fresno County Jail after several weeks of investigation.
The victim provided investigators with a description of the suspect and his vehicle after her ordeal, and she told them he’d stolen her cell phone.
On Friday, police received word that the victim’s phone showed use. They were able to track it to a rural area between Tulare and Kings counties.
Sheriff’s deputies from both counties and special agents from the California Justice Department aided in creating a perimeter around an agricultural field where 14 people were working.
The workers cooperated and allowed officers to look at their phones, police said. The man with the victim’s phone fit the description given to police.
Police showed the victim a photo lineup and she identified Gonsalez. A search of his Sanger home found a vehicle matching the description the victim gave and other evidence linking him to the crime, police said.
He’s being held on $255,000 bail.
