Porterville man arrested after two-hour standoff with police
A Porterville man was arrested Jan. 4 after a nearly two-hour standoff with officers for allegedly firing gunshots within his home, police said.
Richard Redman, 29, was charged with felony child endangerment and weapons charges and booked into the Tulare County Jail.
Porterville police were dispatched to Redman’s home in the 100 block of North Westwood Street around 12:30 a.m. Jan. 4 after a neighbor reported multiple gunshots. The neighbor told dispatchers that two children, aged 9 and 10, feared for their safety and scaled the fence from the suspect’s home onto her property.
Officers unsuccessfully attempted to call Redman on the telephone. After nearly two hours, Redman exited the home and surrendered to police.
No injuries were reported.
