Alleged carjacker arrested by deputies in Kerman after short chase
An alleged carjacker was arrested by Fresno County sheriff’s deputies late Saturday night after leading them on a short chase through the streets of Kerman, police said.
Deputies tried to stop a vehicle that sped by them around 11 p.m. while heading west toward Kerman on Whites Bridge Avenue, Kerman police said.
A chase ensued as Thomas Garcia, 32, tried to evade deputies entering Kerman city limits, police said.
Garcia crashed at 7th and C streets and fled on foot, police said.
He was arrested near 9th and C streets by deputies after Kerman police helped to set a perimeter.
Deputies confirmed the vehicle Garcia drove was reported as stolen out of Fresno.
Garcia was later booked into the Fresno County Jail for numerous charges including driving a stolen vehicle, evading officers and violating probation, according to jail records.
