7-year-old suffered major injuries in car accident near Parlier

A 7-year-old suffered major injuries after the driver of a Chevy pickup truck ran a stop sign and hit another car west of Parlier on Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The child was a passenger in the truck when the driver ran a stop sign on Bethel Avenue at Manning Avenue and struck a Dodge Challenger traveling on Manning about 5:45 p.m., said CHP Officer Marcus Pulley.

The drivers of both vehicles received minor injuries, Pulley said.

The child was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno and treated for severe to major injuries, said Pulley.

The cause of the accident remained under investigation.

No further details were available Tuesday night.
